Background

Happy Chips was founded by the Happy Green Cooperative and its Chairman Sangay Rinchen in 2013 together with the German entrepreneur Adrian von Bernstorff. After two years of intensive development, Happy Chips conducted a successful test-launch in the Bhutanese Market. The food scientist Malcolm Wilkes from the UK has developed the Happy Chips products and played a major role in establishing the production. Food industry expert David Burresi has significantly benefitted the project by helping to design the Happy Chips business model.

In September 2015, Happy Green joined forces with the agricultural business Nob Bhutan plc. In November 2016, Nob Bhutan has acquired the Happy Chips business from the Happy Green Cooperative. The role of the Cooperative was redefined to focus on the development and application of best practices for the farmers that are supplying our potatoes and spices.
